United Run for the Zoo

This run was fun as last year, but it would have been better if it had not rained and if it was a bit warmer! The route changed from last year, which I thought, was a big improvement. They had us run through the zoo in the beginning of the course instead of at the last leg, which was a problem last year because the runners and walkers converged and it got crowded.

The race offered a 5K, 10K and a 5K walk. I ran the 10K. It had us go south of the zoo and then had us enter the zoo at the south entrance where we ran through the zoo and exited and ran along the lake path just past Belmont and looped back down to the zoo.

I completed the run in 1hr 6min 7sec. They ran out of bananas but had some apples to substitute. Although they had rocket popsicles, wish it were warmer so I could have enjoyed it. I wanted to go walk around the zoo, but it was really cold and I did not bring a jacket or my warm-up pants.

Overall, I was happy about the run, because of the change in course and I feel that my stamina is increasing. This is promising because I will start my marathon training starting in the first week of July!
