2013 Chicago Monster Dash

I ran this one last year and a deciding factor of me doing it again is that they had a special medal for the half marathon. Again I dressed up as a running Mickey Mouse with the shirt from the Disneyland half marathon.

I think they started later this year at 9. I think last year we started at 8 or it might of think this since all my other races have started in the early hours. The only thing I didn’t like was that since we started later, when I finished it seemed like they were already shutting down. I think they only had the park until 1. I guess I didn’t win the costume contest, oh well I thought I had a good outfit.

We got to the park at 8 so I had plenty of time to go to the bathroom and take pictures and get to the corral on time. Once we started it was partly sunny and cool for an autumn morning. It took us on the same route as last year, going south along the lake and then looping then going north. The view going north was really nice, I do like the Chicago skyline. When I got around the 12 mile mark it started to rain. Luckily it stopped, or else I would of been miserable.

I finished at 2hrs 41min 10sec. I managed to get back in my average time. This was my first half marathon. As a Half Fanatic, I joined after the Chicago half marathon and I am officially member #4868. I saw one fanatic but she past by me quickly! I didn’t wear my gear so she didn’t know I was a fanatic. My next half will be my last one for 2013 which is the Las Vegas RnR in November, but first I will be running the Hot Chocolate 15k in a couple weeks.
