2016 in Review

2016 I cut back on quantity of the races that I participated in. I ran a total of 17 races which included (2) Ten Miles; (3) 5K; (1) 8K; (3) 10K; (1) 15K; (6) Half Marathons and (1) Marathon. The only new race that I added this year was the Captain America 5K that was part of the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland.

This is how I categorize my 2016 running:

Favorite Medal – Disneyland Half Marathon. They redesigned the medal again this year. They matched it to the theme of the weekend which was Famous Duos. So they depicted Mickey and Pluto on the  Medal.

Favorite Non-Disney Medal – Soldier Field 10 miler. The designed and the colors appealed to me. I was happy that they redesigned the medal.

Favorite Race – Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon. I really enjoyed this race because of the weather and the slight change in the course.

Worst Race – Chicago RnR Half Marathon. The reason why I chose this race to be the worst not for thecourse, but for that day it was hot, humid and it also rained! Normally I like this race, but this year with  the weather changes it was not the best!

Best Race Shirt – Soldier Field 10 Mile. This year they partnered with Under Armour and the shirt was red and it also depicted the finisher medal on the front.

Race I will be running again in 2017 – Chicago Marathon. Yes I will be running that again! Next year marks the 40th anniversary of the race, so I put my name in the lottery and I got picked to run. So 26.2  miles here I come again!

2016 I was pretty steady with my training, just did the bare minimum to help me complete the long distances. For 2017, I am hoping to increase my training to start getting better times with my half  marathons and also get a better time with the marathon next year.

Thank you for reading my blog and I look forward to share with you my adventures in running in 2017!

Santa Hustle 5k

This year it was a little bit colder than in the past so we dressed accordingly. This is the third time participating in this event along with our friends Dave and Devona.

We started by the street south of Soldier Field. The course was the same as last year. We had cookies and candy along the way. When we got down to 31sr street we look back towards the finish.

At the finish, they awarded us finisher medals. Finished in 1hr 1min 1sec. We had a fun time and will most likely do it again next year.
