2015 in Review

The year had it’s ups and downs in regards to my running. From a twisted ankle to humid conditions it was a challenging yet rewarding year for running.  I entered some new races, added Minnesota to my list of states, did two Disney challenges and had fun not worrying about my finish time.

I categorize my year of running it would be

Favorite Medal – Disneyland Half Marathon medal.  This year marked the 60th Diamond Anniversary for the Disneland Resort and they designed the medal with that theme. It was diamond shaped and had a spinner.

Favorite Non-Disney Medal – Chicago Half Marathon Challenge medal. By doing the Chicago Spring Half Marathon and the Chicago Half Marathon you recieve a challenge medal, which was nicely designed.

Favorite Race – Infinity Gauntlet Challege. This challenge included a 10k and Half Marathon within 2 day in the Disneyland Resort and Anaheim area. I liked this race because it was in November and it was the perfect weather for running.  Running in the parks is always fun and the characters were the Avengers and they had some nice surprises along the course

Worst Race – Volition Half Marathon.  It was poorly organized and it followed a familiar course which I could run with a better organization.

Best Race Shirt – Shamrock Shuffle. The previous year the shirt was very plain and there were a lot of complaints. I believe that they listened to the complaint because this year the shirt was well designed.

Race I will be running again this year – Soldier Field 10 mile. I always get enjoyed this run, it’s in May so the weather is nic, you finish inside of Soldier Field and get you medal awarded by a uniformed service person. I already signed up for 2016 and the released the medal for the race and it looks really nice.

I took a break for a month and a half and I need to get back into my training. This year my goal is to be better trained for my races this year and to find a few new runs whether it be here or out of state. Stay tuned and let’s see what 2016 brings.

Thanks for reading my blog and look forward with sharing with you my continued journey.

Santa Hustle 5k

We did this last year and had a fun time, so we signed up this year. We met up with our friends Dave and Devonna who also did it last year. We got there pretty early so we checked out the booths. It as a chilly morning, luckily there was a booth that was giving out earmuffs because we forgot to bring them. They had the reindeers again and also had a Santa chair and sleigh so we took a few pictures.

We started at Soldier Field and went south.  Along the way they had cookies, marshmallows and mini m&ms. We walk the majority of the way and took a bunch of pictures

Finished at 1hr 4min 10sec. As you can probably guess I wasn’t going for a PR, it was for fun and hanging out with our friends along the lakefront path.
