Hot Chocolate 15k

Woke up hearing thunder and thought uh oh it’s going to be a miserable morning for a run. By the time I got dressed it looked like the storm had passed. Jo came over and we headed down to Grant Park where it started. Got there for enough time to check my bag, use the bathroom and arrive in our corral to make our way to the front.

We were in corral J which kicked off in the first wave. Once we started we ran up Columbus and the took a left at lower wacker. We then turned and went south on Clark.  They had a chocolate chip station and the water/nuun station right before the 2 mile mark. We turned left on Van Buren and ran towards Michigan ave where we again went south.

At Roosevelt was where the split between the 5k and the 15k. We continued going south on Michigan till we hit 31st street, where we headed east again. When we got to Martin Luther Drive we ran up that street for about 1/2 mile the turned around and proceeded again on 31st street going east.

When we ran across Lake Shore Drive we turned and headed north towards the McCormick center. We ran through the tunnel of the center and continued towards Soldier Field. When we left the Soldier Field area it was just another mile to go. Once we turned off from the museum campus and made it to Roosevelt road we saw the finish line and kicked it up a bit to finish strong. I finished at 1hr 48min 33sec. I beat my time from last year!

When we walked towards the chocolate area we found a large group from Hinsdale by Buckingham Fountain. We stopped to say hello and take a few pictures with them. Jo and I got our chocolate and satisfied that we finished the 15k under 2 hrs.
